Driven by Heritage, Designed for the Future
Back in the early 1960s, Siddle Cook, along with his wife Mary and son Raymond, set out to improve the touring caravan experience after years of family adventures. From their workshop in Consett, County Durham, they launched their first models — the Whirlwind and Tornado — under a new name created from Siddle’s own: Elddis (his name spelled backwards!). The Whirlwind, in particular, struck a chord with holidaymakers, helping to establish Elddis as a trusted household name across the UK.
Now, the Whirlwind returns — redesigned and reimagined for a new generation of caravanners. The all-new Whirlwind range captures the spirit of the original while delivering unbeatable value and modern specification. And for those seeking even more comfort, the Whirlwind Evolve takes things a step further with upgraded features and added tech.
Today, Elddis continues to innovate and inspire, proudly building every caravan at our state-of-the-art facility in County Durham — the same location where it all began. Now part of the Erwin Hymer Group, and in turn THOR Industries Inc., we remain a proudly British manufacturer backed by the strength of the World’s largest leisure vehicle group.
